Housing
Do you need legal advice about a housing problem?
We are funded by the Legal Aid Agency to help with:
- Threat of eviction – including defending a possession claim, bailiffs enforcing a warrant, and applying to court to stop an eviction;
- Landlord harassment and/or Unlawful eviction – including help to get you back into your home if your landlord has evicted you without following proper procedures, protection against further harassment, recovering your belongings and compensation for unlawful eviction;
- Homelessness – we can help challenge a council’s decision to refuse help if you are homeless, and put forward your case for accommodation. You can be legally ‘homeless’ even if you have somewhere to live if it is not reasonable for you to continue living there;
- Disrepair and damp – where your property is causing risk of harm to you or your family we can take action against your landlord to force them to make repairs;
- Anti Social Behaviour – if you are facing an Anti Social Behaviour Injunction or committal proceedings we can help you defend your case and represent you in court.
Please note that to access legal aid we will need to assess your financial eligibility, which is based on the income you receive (wages, benefits, pensions etc) and whether you have any savings.
